Dr. Haley H. Clark, Veterinarian
Dr. Haley Hydrick Clark graduated from the University of Georgia in 1998 with a degree in Animal Science and from Tuskegee University in 2002 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, Dr. Clark completed a one year internship at Performance Equine Associates, a full surgical, reproductive, and intensive care facility specializing in horses, located in Whitesboro, Texas. She rejoined her father's practice in the summer of 2003. Dr. Haley was married to Dr. Charles Clark, a dentist, in Albany Georgia in May of 2009. Both being graduates of the University of Georgia, Dr. Haley and her husband enjoy attending ball games in Athens rooting on the Bulldogs. In August of 2012 Dr. Haley and Dr. Charles welcomed their first born, Wallace Anne Clark. In her off time, Dr. Haley also enjoys photography, reading, cooking, running and other fitness activities. She is a former member of the board of directors of the Albany Humane Society and a former member of the school council at the Lee County Primary School as well as past president of the Greater Albany Veterinary Association.
After Dr. Haley's first year in practice at Leesburg Animal Hospital, she won the Leesburg Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award. Haley and Charles' extended family include Ransom, a rescued lab, and Ristra, a Jack Russell Terrier. They also have two cats, Lavendar and Rosemary.
Dr. Shannon Shepard, Veterinarian
Dr. Shannon Shepard joined the Leesburg Animal Hospital team in 2009. Dr. Shepard hails from Eufaula, Alabama. She is a 2003 graduate of Troy University and a 2008 graduate of Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine. Currently living in Smithville with her husband Dane and three children, Nate, Kinley and Drake, Dr. Shepard and her family attend Leesburg Methodist Church. She enjoys running, refinishing furniture and camping and boating with her family. Dr. Shepard's extended family includes three rescue dogs named Brodie and P, a cat named Noodle and a very special three-legged German Shorthair Pointer name Sir Goose. Having a special interest in small animal medicine and orthopedic surgery, Dr. Shepard is an important addition to the Leesburg Animal Hospital team.
Dr. Jenny Page, Veterinarian
Dr. Jenny, originally from Ohio, attended The Ohio State University and graduated in 1994. After graduation Dr. Jenny spent time working in a small animal practice and a no-kill animal shelter in the Dayton, Ohio area. After moving to Albany, Ga in November of 2014, to be closer to her fiance' she joined the Leesburg Animal Hospital staff in January 2015. Dr. Jenny has a special interest in Feline medicine and surgery. Outside of work she enjoy bass fishing, outdoor photography, gardening and bird watching. Together with her fiance' their animal family includes three cats, Jabba, Peyton, and Mariska with hopes of adding a dog soon!
Mindy Earley, Animal Care Taker
Mindy Earley is a 2008 graduate of Lee County High School. Mindy joined Leesburg Animal Hospital in January of 2006 through a work study program with the high school. After graduation, she became a full time employee and now manages the boarding facility. Mindy's responsibilities include making sure all animals receive their daily medications, are fed the proper diets, and are walked or allowed their playtime in our designated areas.
Mindy resides in Leesburg with her husband, Johnny, and their son, Daniel who was born in June of 2010. Their extended family include two chihuahuas name Roxie and CoCo Chanel.
Nancy Summerlin, Veterinary Assistant
Nancy Summerlin wears many hats at Leesburg Animal Hospital. Primarily she is our head veterinary assistant. Nancy joined the staff at Gardner and Hydrick in Albany in 1990 and moved to the Leesburg Animal Hospital branch in 2009. Having been in the veterinary community for many years, Nancy's list of duties are numerous.
She assists the doctors in surgery and exam rooms, is responsible for ordering supplies, oftentimes is the voice on the other end of the phone, and is one of our animal caretakers on weekends and holidays. Nancy is a native of Albany but has lived in Leesburg since 1996. She has four children, ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Nancy and her husband's hobbies are fishing and gardening. They have a very extended family of five dogs and one cat.
Kelsie Horst, Registered Veterinary Technician
Kelsie Horst is the newest member of the Leesburg Animal Hospital team. Kelsey hails from Pelham, Georgia where she is a 2011 graduate of Pelham High School. After high school Kelsie enrolled in the Veterinary Technician program at Southwest Georgia Technical College and graduated May 2015.
In October of 2014 Kelsie was married to her husband, Ryan, and moved to Leesburg. She began her internship with Leesurg Animal Hospital in January or 2015 and was offered a full time position in March. In her time away from work Kelsie enjoys horseback riding and boating activities with her family on Lake Eufala. Kelseie and Ryan's extended family includes three dogs, Kota, Sarge and Ruger.
Maria Hughes, Veterinary Assistant
Maria Hughes has been an animal lover since early childhood. Maria’s passion for animal care blossomed with her first job at Gardner and Hydric, a sister clinic to Leesburg Animal Hospital, in 1996. Maria continued to work at Gardner and Hydrick in Sylvester until it was sold in 2011 and shortly after joined Leesburg Animal Hospital is 2013.
Maria’s duties are to greet patients and their owners as they arrive, while making them feel safe and welcome. Having spent her first 18 years as a veterinary assistant she is able to move between the reception and treatment areas. Maria, when needed assist the veterinarians in surgery, during exams and on night calls as well as being of the LAH’s weekend caretakers. Having special interest in nutrition, Maria educates clients about specific Hill’s prescription diets.
Maria has one son, Travis, who was born in 2006 and attends Worth County Elementary School. Together they are active members and volunteers at the Best Friends Humane Society in Sylvester. Other hobbies of Maria include participating in local community runs, reading and hunting. Together with her fiance’ the animal family consists of four dogs, a Jack Russell named J.R., Slate the Labrador, and two rescue Dachshunds, Bella and Delilah.
Georgette Young, Kennel Technician
Georgette Young is a kennel technician at the Leesburg Animal Hospital. She cares for the animal that visit for boarding as well as those who have had surgery. Her daily tasks include feeding the animals, walking them outside for bathroom breaks, giving them baths, and helping to keep our hospital a clean environment for everyone.
Married with two beautiful daughters, Georgette spends most of her free time with her family. Her family includes her two chihuahuas and a sweet old bulldog.
Georgette was born in Albany Georgia but has lived here in Leesburg for the past fifteen years. She is a 2004 graduate of Lee County High school. Her great love for all animals made her decision to join the LAH staff all the more exciting. "It has been a wonderful learning experience full of purpose" she explains. Georgette looks forward to many more years with Leesburg Animal Hospital.
Bruce Oosterveen, Office Manager
Bruce Oosterveen joined the Leesburg Animal Hospital team in April of 2017 to serve as the office manager. Bruce and his family moved to the Albany area in the early 90 's when he was transferred here with Cooper Tire and Rubber. After retiring from Cooper in 2009, he took a job with Modern Gas Company as the Service Manager for seven years. Bruce has been married to Kathie Oosterveen for 42 years. Together, their favorite hobby is following their six grandchildren around watching them grow up. Numerous sightings of Bruce on the golf course on his days off have also been reported. Their four-legged family member is an English Cocker named Katie.
Tina Barlow, Receptionist
Tina Barlow, being a long time animal lover, made the decision to join Leesburg Animal Hospital in August of 2015. Since joining the team Tina has become a familiar face greeting clients and their pets as they walk in the door. Often times she is the voice on the other end of the phone scheduling appointments. She also serves as the liaison between the clients and the veterinarian. Tina is a native of Albany, Georgia. She graduated from Westover High School and has remained in Albany since. Tina is a mother to two children, T.J. and Rachel and a grandmother to two grandchildren. Her animal family consists of two cats, Mr. Fancy and Sid. Tina enjoys working in the yard, kayaking and other outdoor activities.
